I love these Japaneses commercials – I guess you need a certain level of creativity and understanding of Japanese culture to do an ad campaign for Dole
Al Pacino is the king of actors! Here are three great speeches that I had to add to this post. This is from City Hall.
And, another favourite Oscar winning performance… Scent of a Woman.
And Justice For All, this is brilliant acting. I just completed my opening statement.
I watched Slumdog Millionaire for the first time. I’ve heard some great reviews of this movie and I have to agree. It’s brilliant – full of surprises. The setting, soundtrack, acting and directing is superb.
Directed by Danny Boyle, Slumdog Millionaire is the story of Jamal Malik, an 18 year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai who is on the verge of beating India’s “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?”. I’ll say no more.
You’d be forgiven for thinking it was based on a true story (it wasn’t, just brilliant storyline). Check out the TIME interview with A.R Rahman, Slumdog Millionaire Maestro.
It has a great soundtrack, my favourite has to be MIA – Paper Planes and O… Saya:
Wow, I watched District 9 last night with my Mom and bro (he’s over for a few weeks to have a break from the Aussies). Firstly, I’m no movie critic, so this isn’t a review as such. I heard Marcus Lush on Radio Live recommending to give it a miss earlier on the day, but I never listen to critics – 9 times out of 10 my intuition rules in my favour and I end up thanking myself for not listening to others’ opinions. And I like Marcus Lush.
This movie was great! Having been raised in South Africa in the “apartheid” era, I certainly appreciate the attention to detail in the movie. The analogies to apartheid make a nice touch, in fact I’d love to know who consulted Director Neil Blomkamp on this one. It’s superb. Loved the similarities of prawns to kaffirs. It’s a bit of slapstick humor on Peter Jackson’s part I think. There’s a great understanding of African culture in the movie, and the script remains so non mainstream America.
It’s a must see IMHO.
I’m soon to post some footage of my recent kayaking trip with Grant to the Hinemaia Dam. This is just a filler page till then
